Traffic woes expected this weekend on I5 I205 into Oregon

first_imgA deck joint replacement project has closed two of the four southbound lanes on the Interstate 205 bridge across the Columbia River.Washington and Oregon transportation officials expect serious traffic backups on both I-205 and Interstate 5 heading south into Oregon. They are warning people to allow for extra time, find alternate routes or avoid travel during the peak periods of congestion between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. today and Sunday.The complete construction schedule follows:• Now until 5 a.m. Monday: Two lanes will be closed around the clock. Onramps from state Highway 14 to southbound I-205 will also be closed.• July 30 through Aug. 2: Two lanes will be closed during nights only, from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m during each of the weekend nights, through 5 a.m. Monday.• 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9: Two lanes will be closed around the clock. Onramps from Highway 14 to I-205 southbound also will be closed.• Aug. 13-16: Two lanes will be closed during nights only, from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m. during each of the weekend nights, through 5 a.m. Monday.last_img
