Paris, France | AFP | Paris Saint-Germain forwards Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are both in a race against time to recover from injuries in time for the crucial Champions League clash with Liverpool, the French club said Wednesday.PSG said a scan had showed that Neymar strained an adductor muscle in his groin in Brazil’s 1-0 friendly win against Cameroon on Tuesday. And Mbappe has a shoulder contusion after falling heavily in France’s 1-0 win over Uruguay at the Stade de France.“A 48-hour period of treatment will be undertaken to assess their clinical evolution,” PSG said.It appears likely that both players will miss PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Toulouse on Saturday, but their real target will be Wednesday’s Champions League match against Liverpool at the Parc des Princes. All four sides could still qualify for the knockout phase from Group C. Liverpool have the same number of points as leaders Napoli while PSG sit third, one point behind Liverpool and one point ahead of Red Star Belgrade.Neymar played down his injury, saying in an Instagram message that “it was nothing serious”. In Tuesday’s match, the Brazilian forward had treatment for an apparent groin problem after just five minutes and collapsed to the turf soon afterwards to boos from the crowd in the central English town of Milton Keynes.Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar also said on Tuesday the 222-million-euro ($253-million) player did not appear to have a serious problem.“He felt discomfort,” Lasmar said. “He will need a bit more time to evaluate it and take a scan, but in principle it is not a serious injury.”In Paris, Mbappe hurt his right shoulder as he challenged Uruguay goalkeeper Martin Campana for the ball in the World Cup winners’ victory.France coach Didier Deschamps said Mbappe, the 19-year-old forward who shot to global prominence at the World Cup, “had some shoulder pain after his fall”.Neymar’s replacement in the Brazilian lineup, Everton’s Richarlison, headed in on the stroke of half-time to secure victory for the Selecao.France won thanks to Olivier Giroud’s 52nd-minute penalty.Share on: WhatsApp

Gatting is second with 72 points. “I had a great start in race two and made up a lot of places on the opening lap. Once I got to the front, it was just a case of maintaining the pace and making no mistakes. “I’m very happy with my first Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup victories at the Red Bull Ring, which is a new circuit to me.” Would you like to use this article in your publication or on your website? Van der Linde won Saturday’s race over 10 laps from pole position after it was shortened by two laps as a result of an accident. South African teenager Kelvin van der Linde dominated the second and third rounds of the international Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup one-make series in Austria on Saturday and Sunday, with back-to-back victories on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. Gatting and Van der Linde were involved in a thrilling duel for the lead in Saturday’s race before the young South African got the upper hand and crossed the line with a 5.6-second advantage. 4 June 2013 SAinfo reporter The top eight finishers then started Sunday’s race in reverse order and Van der Linde took full advantage of a great start from eighth on the grid to move into the lead by the second lap. ‘Tough’“My start in race one was not good and Michelle put me under pressure right from the word go,” a happy Van der Linde said afterwards. “We were involved in a tough, but fair duel. It was an outstanding performance by the rising star of South African motorsport, who is competing for the first time in the one-make series and had never previously raced on the Austrian circuit. The 2012 South African Volkswagen Cup champion was ably supported by 16- year-old compatriot Jordan Pepper, who finished third in race one on Saturday and fifth in Sunday’s round in front of a large crowd which had gathered to watch the main attraction, the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). He steadily pulled away from the rest of the field to take the chequered flag by a comfortable 10.2 seconds from Gatting and 10.5 seconds ahead of Kasper Jensen. The next round is at the Norisring circuit in Germany on July 13. Four weeks ago, he made his debut in the series at the Hockenheimring grand prix circuit in Germany, where he qualified second and finished fourth despite losing the car’s power steering on the opening lap.

Jamaica is poised to benefit from significant economic and infrastructural development initiatives under a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the People’s Republic of China.Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, and Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica, His Excellency Tian Qi, signed the agreement under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), at the Ministry’s New Kingston offices on Thursday (April 11).The BRI is a new model of international development cooperation, promoting broad and inclusive connectivity across countries and regions. It also provides a powerful framework to ensure that development cooperation brings shared benefits to China and its partners.Jamaica is the fifth Caribbean nation to sign on to the BRI, following Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Guyana and Barbados. Through the initiative, the Chinese are expected to invest heavily in a country’s infrastructure and economy.Senator Johnson Smith said the MOU allows the two countries to identify specific proposals for projects in priority areas.“With today’s signing of the MOU, our two countries must now… develop a mechanism by which projects and programmes in priority areas may be proposed and evaluated at the technical level, forming the basis for potential agreements,” she noted. She said that under the BRI, Jamaica and the People’s Republic of China will seek to deepen collaboration so as to promote greater connectivity in the areas of trade, facilities and infrastructure, policy coordination, financial systems and people-to-people connections.“Such connectivity and the potential it holds can serve as a catalyst for bringing Jamaica closer to attainment of our economic growth and sustainable development goals,” she added.Senator Johnson Smith said that the new framework, coupled with existing bilateral mechanisms “can provide impetus for increased trade and investment as well as channel support to critical sectors, such as infrastructure, logistics, and manufacturing”,She noted that over the years, Jamaica and the People’s Republic of China have forged a mutually beneficial partnership transcending distance, size, level of development and culture. The partnership between the two countries has resulted in many tangible outcomes, she said, citing acquisition of Alpart in 2016 by Jiuquan Iron and Steel Company (JISCO) and the proposed development of an industrial park and special economic zone alongside the JISCO/Alpart operations in Nain, St Elizabeth. The Minister further mentioned the western children’s hospital project, completion of two state-of-the-art early-childhood institutions last year, as well as the Bright Journey Eye Care Mission now under way at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH), where hundreds of persons are receiving cataract surgeries.Additionally, she said that hundreds of Jamaicans have travelled to China on scholarships and training programme annually and have returned to the island to contribute to national development.“These are but a few of the many projects which demonstrate the positive impact of bilateral cooperation with China,” Senator Johnson Smith noted.
